Founder of Rachel Switall Magazine Group, Art Director of StudentsXpress Magazine; 2011- present
Duties: Working with contacts at multiple schools to collect student artwork and writing, laying out the
entire magazine, selling (and designing some of) the ads, preparing files for the printer, scheduling the
delivery and marketing it all.

Substitute Art Director, Inside Publications
Duties: Laying out three weekly newspapers on the weeks when the Art Director is out of town or on
vacation. Work with ad sales, editor and publisher to make sure newspapers are done quickly and stay
on deadline.

Creator and Art Director for various Chicago Public School magazines, including Tiger Tales,
Nettel2theMetal and CPSxpress; 2006-2011
Duties: All self-started publications, I worked with teachers and students in an after-school program to plan
the magazines, collect the work, layout the magazines, sell the ads and work with the printer.

Freelance Work for MacFadden Publishing; Nov. 2002-2004
Duties: Art Director for “Grooming Business” a bi-monthly publication and any other assignments as they
came along, such as creating media kits or working on supplements from conception to completion for
various publications.

Duties: Helped Art Directors as needed. This freelance job occurred when I left Imagination Publishing
to start a family.

Duties: Senior Art Director for various B2B publications, worked on photoshoots, hiring illustrators and
photographers and preparing presentations for potential clients.

Duties: Worked with editors and other designers on multiple publications, designing features, departments,
collateral pieces, creating charts. Worked on the layout of the magazines from conception to completion.
