I have been a freelance illustrator and designer in the Washington, DC area since 1971. I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1966 with honors and spent my senior year in Rome on the Honors Program. Since then, I have been working steadily for both corporate and government clients to produce illustrations, ads, logos, brochures, fliers, booklets, banners and direct mail: anything in print. I can actually draw so I can either create my illustrations on paper using traditional media, then color in black and white illustrations in Adobe Illustrator or work directly on the computer in either Illustrator or Photoshop.
I specialize in patient education materials and prefer to work in a cartoon style that is user-friendly to explain complex concepts in a way that a child or a layman can understand. I have worked extensively with the National Institutes of Health, Time-Life Books for Children, National Geographic, USDA, the National Cancer Institute, Reader's Digest and many other clients. Portfolio and references on request.
