Dollar General December 2009-August 2010

This being my first job, I was responsible for main cashier duties and cleaning. I learned a lot of customer service references and how to work my way up from the bottom to the top of management. I decided to decline the manager position to attend college a few months before my acceptance into Huston-Tillotson University.

Huston-Tillotson University August 2010-May 2014

In August of 2010, I began working as a student aid at Huston-Tillotson. There, I planned events—such as lectures, campus tours and concerts, and Greek life.. I did this until 2012, when I moved to a Resident Assistant in the Women’s Dormitory. As an RA, I managed an entire floor alone that was resided with first year students. My theme for the young ladies until I graduated was “Self Confidence,” where I periodically planned many mentor programs and events to help the young ladies value theirselves in more ways than one.

“900 Chicon”

Recently, I was published on the front of “900 Chicon,” a literary magazine published by Huston-Tillotson’s English Department. The magazine is locally known throughout the East Austin Area and HT’s community where this year we tackled the theme of “Keeping East Austin.” Other than being featured in the magazine, I also served as lead editor to make sure the submissions from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders were precise and correct for this year’s theme.
