Agata Rek, whose pseudonym for artistic purpose is Mia Mandela, was born in the year 1981 in Poland. She studied Landscape Architecture at the West Pomeranian University in Szczecin/ Poland and graduated in year 2010.
She was a founder of the Student activity Art Club, where she organized various workshops and art exhibitions.
She has won many art and architectural awards at the national level, in the years 2007-2008 she participated at International Work Camps IJGD in Germany as a teacher, where she taught watercolors.
She moved to the United States in 2010 and she currently resides in Miami, Florida.
She’s had several art exhibitions in Poland, Germany and the United States.
She uses various techniques to create her illustrations, where her favorite medium of choice is pencil, watercolor and ink. She also uses techniques in Photoshop to finish her work.
Her major inspiration is the hidden beauty of women, where she’s trying to capture the mood and essence of the character. Finding the emotion and unique beauty in her subjects.
Simplicity and clear form are trademarks of her work, influences most likely from her years of schooling and Architecture design .
Currently she is illustrating as a freelancer for books, Magazines and private clients. Her desire is to gain the more clients so she can make a living out of her passion and ability to explore and evolve her style.
