***Please ask me for sample work. I have creative fiction and non-fiction, journalistic, and editing samples. I also have some scientific writing samples based on research I conducted myself.***
My name is Marilyn (Mary) Love, and I have a work visa to spend the coming year in Australia. With a bachelor’s degree in Editing, Writing, and Media, I am excited to learn about the Australian Journalism Industry in every way I can. I am aware that editorial positions are listed on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) created by the Australian Government; therefore, I am eligible to work as an editor or editorial assistant if I am the best candidate for the position. In addition, I have a bachelors degree in Hospitality Management with a focus on Hotels.
In order to earn my previously mentioned English degree, I was required to work for a minimum of one year in an editing, writing, or media editing position. I completed fifteen months of editing and writing work– twelve of those months were as the Editor-In-Chief for The FSU Chapter of HerCampus Online Magazine. This, as well as the 1,000 hours of front-of-house hospitality experience I was required to complete for my second degree, has molded my communication and organizational skills into what they are today. I believe that both of these things have forced me to become extremely detail-oriented, and given me a deep understanding of the true usefulness of the Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft Project, which is supplementary). I am used to working on a schedule, and prepared to work all hours from any location.
