I enjoy painting and drawing more than anything else in my life, especially when it is for someone else. I strive to challenge myself as an artist by refining painting and drawing skills. Most recently, I have been focusing on portraits, fabric, architecture, and surrealistic dreamscapes. In my paintings, I enjoy manipulating the oil paint in thick layers for a sculptural feeling. In my drawings, I use Conte' Crayon, which is somewhere between pastels and graphite.

Above all expressions, I have found the deepest connection to art through my calling to work as a hospice nurse. I am a Registered Nurse, as well as a Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse. Through hospice, I have met the most incredible people as patients and family members. I feel humbled by the moments shared with people at such an intimate time of their lives. Their faces will always remain with me, some even reflected on paper or canvas. I feel the greatest reward in drawing the elderly, with the beautiful lines of their faces, showing countless stories. My most meaningful portraits are those created as memorial tributes. I am currently working on a manuscript about my experiences in hospice, that will include poetry, prose, and paintings.

I am a third generation artist with a passion for creativity, especially literary and visual arts. I was one of the first students in York County School of the Arts, in Yorktown, VA, but received college level writing, drawing, and painting training at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia, and Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. I've also explored other creative outlets such as beading for jewelry and gowns, painting wall murals, and tile mosaics.

I have been inspired the most by E.E. Cummings, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, Vincent van Gogh, and John Singer Sargent.
