Representative Projects and Dates of Involvement
Qatar Solar Technologies (QSTec) Lead, Doha, Qatar, 2011-2012. Developed and led a core team of 11 remote staff to support client project plans and procedures. This project resulted in follow-on work for up to 5 years to fulfill contract requirements. This project demanded consistent, timely responses to authors from more than 10 different countries in five time zones. This project involved presenting the 20+ in-house authors and client with highly technical information and options for delivering work on order to meet cost- and time-effective ways to meet deadlines. This project also involved creating more than 80 flow charts and working directly with the client on numerous text and graphic revisions. In addition to the project work, workshops were held with technical staff with instructions in creating flow charts, using SharePoint, and linking documents for a fully electronic deliverable.
Decontamination and Decommissioning Technical Lead, CH2M HILL Plateau Remediation Company, Richland, WA, 2008-2011. Provided project management, technical writing, editing, document management services, and served as liaison for a demolition and decontamination documents for work performed at the Hanford Site for the U.S. Department of Energy. Managed the production of these complex and sensitive client documents and served as a work products coordinator for long-term projects, interacting directly with clients, federal, state, and local agencies, and participates in external client and comment resolution meetings. Routinely managed technical reports and coordinated multiple production projects simultaneously. Brought added dimension to the environmental writing with knowledge gained from performing field work at a broad range of RCRA and CERCLA hazardous waste sites. Between May and October 2012, more than 100 key documents were prepared, edited, and managed; many for public review and comment.
Operations Lead, Publications Group, California Central Valley Geographic Area 2005-2008. Led and managed a staff of 25 for CH2M HILL's Central Valley, California, Geographic Area operations. Coordinated authors, document processors, graphic designers, reprographics, and editorial staff to produce technical documents required to support and present the work of the consulting staff. These technical documents included engineering studies, technical reports, and technical memorandums encompassing a broad spectrum of engineering and science disciplines, ranging from reports of several pages to multi-volume works that include hundreds of pages of text, tables, and graphics. These documents are prepared for local, state, and federal government agencies, corporations, military institutions, and private organizations. Many of these documents were prepared for public review and comment.

Lead Technical Writer, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, 2002 to 2006. Lead technical writer and in-house liaison with consulting staff for a variety of ongoing Mountain Home Air Force Base projects including the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan, Environmental Assessment, Habitat Conservation Plan, Slickspot Peppergrass inventories, Air Emissions report, and General Plan.
Project Writing Support, ICDF Remedial Action Work Plan (RAWP), CH2M HILL, 2002. Provided project writing and support and document management when the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) awarded the ICDF RAWP to CH2M HILL as a follow-on project to the Construction Work Plan. The scope of work entailed the two-volume parent RAWP, 17 stand-alone reports (including the Operations and Maintenance Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Waste Management Plan, Waste Tracking Plan, and Sampling and Analysis Plan) that served as appendixes to the RAWP, and 2 engineering design reports.
Lead Technical Writer, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Assessments, Intermountain Gas Company, Various Locations, November 2001 to February 2002. Lead technical writer for numerous Phase I Property Transfer Assessment reports for an area covering seven states in the intermountain and northwestern U.S. The Phase I Assessments were completed in an extremely short time frame. The reports were written and delivered in less than 2.5 months, allowing the client to make a decision not to purchase the properties because several potential previously unidentified environmental liabilities we identified.
Project Writing Support, INEEL CERCLA Disposal Facility (ICDF) Design and Construction Project, CH2M HILL, 2000 to 2002. Provided writing and editing support for this 20-month, $13 million project, which encompassed 28 separate technical reports, engineering design files, and plans; drawings; and specifications for the ICDF final 2,100-page remedial design and construction work plan. The project involved 40 different authors contributing to drafts that were published at 30-, 60-, and 90-percent completion for client and regulatory review—an iterative process involving 12 deliveries, of 28 separate reports, in 16 months.
Field Technician, Various Environmental Remediation Projects, Idaho, Utah, and Washington, January 1995 to March 1997. Field technician, collected, and analyzed soil and water samples for the Truck Refueling Facility, Heinz Frozen Food Company, Ontario, Oregon; Twin Falls Canal Company, Twin Falls, Idaho; DART Industries, Jerome, Idaho; Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah; Fearless Farris, Twin Falls, Bliss, Buhl, Fruitland, Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell, Idaho. For Blount Industries (a munitions manufacturing plant) in Lewiston, Idaho, assisted in a RCRA facility investigation, collected more than 800 soil samples and analyzed them to determine the nature and extent of contamination resulting from past disposal practices.
Editor/Technical Writer, CH2M HILL, Boise, Idaho, May 1993 to March 1997. Wrote material involving original research and technical information, performed copy editing, detailed editing, revision, and rewriting of text from different authors, scheduled document processing, graphics, and reprographics, coordinated the assembly and production of formal reports and proposals, monitored quality control of all aspects of publication, and ensured that available resources were used effectively to complete projects in a timely manner. Provided technical support for numerous EISs and EAs from initial research and writing through the comment response period, Record of Decision, and preparation of the Administrative Record.
Business Development/Marketing Specialist/Document Processing Supervisor, CH2M HILL, Portland, Oregon, 1983 to 1990. Provided overall support to coordinate the marketing efforts of the regional office, served as a firmwide resource for marketing, prepared monthly business development reports, directed the related activities of staff, and supervised and coordinated document processing center staff and production workload.
Public Involvement, Community Relations, City of Sunnyvale, California, December 2001 to June 2002. Assisted the City of Sunnyvale in compiling, analyzing, evaluating, and quantifying resident responses from its External Customer (Resident) Satisfaction survey. The survey was developed to assist the Sunnyvale City Council in identifying community issues and community-generated ideas for improving City responsiveness; assist the City Manager in identifying issues impacting process management, strategic and business planning, and budget development; assist department directors in making improvements to existing City programs and processes, and assist program managers in reporting program outcomes. The key findings were identified and organized into the following categories: Quality of Life and Neighborhood Issues, Public Safety, Quality Ratings for City Services, Customer Service, Fiscal Stewardship, and Emerging Issues. The survey results were quantified and edited to be understood at a high school grade level and published on the City of Sunnyvale Web site.
Editor/Technical Writer, ProClarity (Microsoft), Boise, Idaho, June 2000 to June 2001. Provided writing and editing services for user documentation for ProClarity's development platform—a software system for building custom analytic solutions. The writing involved work in an environment that involved documenting software simultaneously with development of the product.
Documentation Development Specialist, Hewlett-Packard Company, Various Locations, June 1999 to 2004. Provided extensive coordination and rewriting of technical information from a broad range of sources for creation of multimedia training/sales tools for Hewlett-Packard Company. Researched and developed "how to guides/learn mores" for the small business site on the HP Web site. Developed HP's Try HP User Manual, which was targeted to the emerging small/medium business market. Provided writing/QA/copy editing for user documentation for new printer product rollouts for HP, as well as software rollouts. Created print media documentation for product packaging for more than 40 retail products. For HP's printer division, worked closely with hardware and software engineers worldwide to create consumer user guides and repair guides for printers, plotters, and multi-function devices from the initial development and testing phase through localization in 37 languages.

Participated in EIS comment/response coordination/documentation, identified areas needing improvement in processes, and coordinated with appropriate management to find solutions. For the public comment/response document on the Yucca Mountain Site Suitability Report, assisted with the input of more than 16,000 comments into the central database for the site suitability report, working with the comment response team composed of DOE staff, project contractor, and consultants.
