Senior Management Specialist, and Production Coordinator, American Association of Retired Persons, Washington, DC. 1997-1999. Wrote community-based marketing materials to help educate the public about benefits available to low-income and elderly consumers through the Association’s Public Benefits Outreach campaign and Senior Community Service Employment Program. (Received AARP’s Sustained Excellence Award for Creativity for work on the Public Benefits Outreach campaign.) Helped create the Association’s information enterprise/publishing strategy, and oversaw production costs. Wrote detailed assessments of current operations, and business plans for improved operations. Managed program publications throughout legal approval process, editing, graphic design and final production.

Production Associate, Modern Maturity magazine, AARP, Washington, DC. 1996-1997. Managed advertising production schedules, procedures and deadlines for clients advertising in Modern Maturity, AARP’s magazine with a national circulation of 22 million. Served as technical advisor to advertising agencies for creation of artwork. Acted as liaison between ad agencies and printer, ensuring that each issue was produced on schedule, and clients were satisfied with placement and quality.

Proofread and edited promotional materials, and provided guidance on budgeting and efficient use of funds for publications. Conducted program research for public television documentaries. Helped manage on-site activities for live television productions and coordinated intern assignments during live broadcasts.
