With an eye towards new business development and overall brand strategy, for five years I directed major PR accounts and the integration of PR into their overall marketing plan. Focused on special event planning including major trade shows (applications, messaging and planning), as well as crisis communications, social media imaging and messaging, media relations, brand positioning through the media and internal communications and strategy. Considered as an extension of client’s internal branding and strategy team and consulted with regardless of project.

Created internal advertising and marketing firm within this one-hundred year-old, shoe company that targeted the medical markets of diabetes, arthritis and foot trauma. During my fifteen years with the firm, I recreated the company image with new product packaging, catalogs, advertising materials, 1st website and trained marketing personnel in a successful effort to bring non-core products mainstream. Reviewed and revamped co-op advertising strategy with new implementation process and an emphasis on retailers working through the internal agency. Major focus on tradeshows with over 25 trade shows attended a year from small medical shows to the World Shoe Association Show (2x yearly) one of the largest tradeshows in the world.

Wrote, produced and marketed various corporate and broadcast video productions for ad agencies, public relations firms and Fortune 500 companies. Additionally worked as marketing director on developing new business and client relationships for the video production company.

Account Executive and Media Relations Specialist
Edelman Worldwide Public Relations, New York, New York April 1984-December 1987

After an awarding winning production for ABC News, the tasks at Edelman Worldwide were simply to put the clients in front of an ever growing public via the media. Three years at the world’s largest PR Firm specializing in strategic thinking and brand concepts with focus on and specialty media was targeted to insure the proper client demographic was reached via television, radio, print or electronic. As the internal consultant for all media pitches, a keen approach to the media as well as creative strategy was required to recommend proven methods for each individual pitch. Flash mobs and tradeshow exposure was included in tactics.

ABC News and Sports & WOKR-TV, Rochester and NY, NY September 1979-May 1984
Began producing the local news (11pm) in Rochester, New York and after acquiring the highest rating of local television news which still stands (53 Nielson share), moved to New York City with ABC. A combined three years allowed me to produce and write programs for the entertainment division (Good Morning America), the news division (World News with Peter Jennings, 20/20) and the sports division (Monday Night Football, Wide World of Sports, PGA/LPGA Golf). While at ABC, production of documentary on the I Love New York campaign aired winning numerous broadcasting awards.
