To provide translation, proofreading and interpretation services from English/Portuguese and Portuguese/English in the field of Economics, International Development, Law, Finance and general.
Experience
1980 to present. Freelance Translator & Interpreter. Translation experience totals over thirty years. Clients include Bank of Portugal, Portugal Department of Tourism, World Bank, University of British Columbia and British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
2009 to present. Home and Hospital Teacher/Substitute Teacher with Calvert County Public Schools – Elementary, Middle and High Schools. Full-time in school year 2012-2013, part-time in previous school years.
2009 – 2011. Family Support Worker with Healthy Families, Calvert County Public Schools. Provided support services to at-risk families and teen mothers. Established a trusting relationship with families to provided prenatal health education, child development and nutrition. Assisted in gaining employment and reaching educational goals.
1987 – 1995. Assistant to the Economics Counselor, Embassy of Portugal, Washington D.C. --performed extensive translations from Portuguese to English and English to Portuguese on proceedings from European Union (EU) meetings and speeches. Assistant to the Ambassador--edited Ambassador’s correspondence, arranged interviews, organized EU meetings, edited and translated Ambassador’s speeches and presentations during Portugal’s year of EU secretariat. Commerce Representative--represented Embassy in EU meetings on commerce and liaison between Embassy and EU delegation, U.S. Department of Commerce and other agency executives.

Freelance Translator of product catalogs, international development project reports, instruction manuals, mechanical engineering reports, and books and articles for publishers and universities.
