I am a graduate of the University of Derby, UK and have completed a Master of Design in Visual Communication and a BA in the same field. I have been working as a freelance designer and illustrator for almost 5 years now and as part of my own marketing I create email newsletters, posters and flyers while maintaining my website. From working in a design based environment I am also familiar with the requirements of preparing documents to be print-ready. I have had my own work printed professionally and have also had commissioned work published, so am very competent at setting up a document in the correct colour mode, format and resolution and also with relevant crop and bleed marks if necessary.
I am very motivated in everything I do and take particular care in designs, trying to always consider different angles or viewpoints in order to find the perfect solution to the brief. In my work as a freelancer I try to create several innovative designs or layouts in order to provide space for which the initial responses can be developed. I am aware of how constructive analysis can benefit within the planning and implementing of a design brief and can absorb feedback or criticism well in order to develop a project from the initial layout through to completion. From sharing a studio space both at university and through freelancing, I have gained a greater respect for working closely alongside others and have picked up additional skills in using large format printers, scanners, binders and cutters and have a wider knowledge in paper types and print settings.
