As a para in two fourth-grade classes, I work with students of a wide variety of abilities to help improve their understanding of class subjects as well as their ability to function in the classroom. I instill discipline for students with behavioral issues as well increase academics of students who are struggling. I teach students in a small-group or one-one setting to reinforce skills as well as help in the classroom in many other capacities. This includes monitoring student work, correcting papers, and supervising testing. Many clerical duties, record keeping, and classroom maintenance are combined with confidentiality requirements of mainstream and special education students to provide the individual assistance needed in an inclusion setting.
