I'm an Artist. I'm a teacher. I'm an apparel industry professional.
Internationally working artist, Jennifer Golubiewski is a new face to the Mineral Point, Wisconsin art scene. Bringing her diverse life experience to the easel, Jennifer’s work has been inspired by both local landscapes and scenes from her global travels. -
Primarily working in pastels, her bold and energetic use of color and stroke explores the raw energy of nature. Using a heavy-toothed paper, evocative impressions emerge from multiple layers of tone and color. Critically acclaimed, her work has been described as having “stunning use of color…intriguing and peaceful…bold abstractions of nature...amazing depth of color...”
Explaining her own work, she says, “I’m drawn to manipulating the landscape around me. I draw what I like to look at…colors and shapes that are interesting, yet peaceful, soothing.” Jennifer’s training in art came through a parallel career path in clothing design. She worked corporately for 20 years in Denver, San Francisco, New Zealand and Wisconsin. From 1996-2002 she lived and worked in New Zealand, traveling regularly to Melbourne, Sydney and Hong Kong.
2002 proved to be a profound turning point and Jennifer made the decision to pursue her first love: art. She quickly became an artist in residence at Sumner, Christchurch. Sumner’s powerful oceanscapes and Nor’westerlies featured in much of her work. Inspired by the force of the sun and her daily beach walks, Jennifer’s art flourished.
Now calling Mineral Point, Wisconsin home, Jennifer’s once thunderous oceanscapes have been replaced by the equally unbridled presence of nature reflected in the glorious skies over rolling fields, the changing colors and seasons of the mid-West. Most summer evenings you can find her sitting on her farmhouse porch with her two dogs watching another magnificent sunset.
In addition to creating art in my studio I have had the pleasure of teaching at VSA Madison for several years. I taught multi media classes to adults with emotional and physical challenges.
What a humbling joyous experience.
