? Although we are advised as educators to “Not smile until Christmas,” I pride myself on my ability to connect with my students on a personal level as to encourage them to perform well outside their expectations.
? Using my prior knowledge and experience growing up in Long Beach, I am able to empathize with many of the social and environmental circumstances that oftentimes cripple students’ success.
? It’s amazing how far a hug and a smile can go. My ability to gain the trust of students who are incapable of it, while penetrating the guards they have built as a defense mechanism due to the constant let-downs of their past.
