Media Relations/Communications Consultant for the Animals in War Dedication Committee
August 2010 – November 3 2012.
Duties: Liaising with media to develop awareness for Animals in War Monument project.
Spokesperson for Animals in War Dedication Project: gave interviews for radio and print media.
Writing press releases, background documents. Proofreading/editing all materials generated by AIW Project.
Created/developed creative content for project website. (writing, research, layout, etc.)
AIW representative for meetings with NCC, Prime Minister’s Office, Veterans Affairs, City of Ottawa.
Event planning (media launch, unveiling ceremony, etc.).

Working as an independent contractor from home, specializing in writing, editing/proofreading. Adaptable to all forms of text, dialogue, scripts, etc. Transcription: media (scripts, shotlists, treatments, etc.), university/college lectures, conferences, and government meetings. Communications Consultant [contract] 2006
Canadian Foundation for Climate and Atmospheric Sciences (CFCAS), Ottawa

Provided communications support to the Foundation on a contractual basis. Duties include: writing press releases, composing letters to Ministers (federal and provincial) requesting attendance at research launches, requesting financial support for funding of conventions, etc. and providing speaking notes for CFCAS representatives for Cabinet Committee presentations.
Drawing on established media contacts nationwide, launched an effective media campaign for a research network launch in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Despite a challenging topic and “sell” to the media, all three major media networks (CBC, CTV and Global) attended the launch. Upon finding out more about the CFCAS, media were calling for phone interviews.
Through the Parliamentary Press Gallery members (450 or more), was able to put the Foundation on their “radar” and raise awareness for Foundation objectives and work. The main focus of the CFCAS is
granting research funding in Canadian universities working on environmental issues, specifically climate and atmospheric change. This will continue to be an important topic, both politically and socially.

CBC News World Production & Counter Spin Sunday
Contracted by CBC News World to produce a specifc audience for final production of Public Affairs show; Counter Spin Sunday. Secured audiences based on target requirements and kept in constant contact with audience members to ensure a knowledgeable and interactive audience attended the final show of Counter Spin Sunday.
Provided production staff with suggestions for panelists who were experts in the topic discussed such as globalization.
