My name is carole goodman, and I have been working as a freelance graphic designer and design educator since 1998.
research + writing
My most recent project is the research, writing, and design of Soy Cuba: Cinema Posters From After the Revolution. This book will feature graphic design (more like fine art), never seen before outside of Cuba.
Clients typically bring me in at the start of a project to take an idea and form it into an engaging message, examining the intersection of content and meaning with form and function. I have expertise in all aspects of graphic design including visual research, design, production, and overseeing printing and manufacture. Most of my clients have re-hired me numerous times over the years to work on a wide scope of projects from books to branding including the ACLU and Chronicle Books.
I have taught at the School of Visual Arts, Parsons, and Pratt Institute among other colleges. Queens College, the City University of New York hired me to found and direct the only graphic design major within CUNY. Recently, the New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University asked me to create the curriculum for its proposed Illustration major.
conferences + awards
I have presented articles on graphic design and design education at the ICOGRADA World Design Conference, the UCDA, SVA National Conference, and the AIGA. My professional work has received awards from organizations and publications including: AIGA, Type Director's Club, Western Art Director's Club, Communication Arts, Print, Step Inside Design, and How.
It would be great to hear from you--thanks!
