? Have assisted authors in “deconstructing” their work in order to find the weak points and assisted them in making the necessary corrections.

? Extensive knowledge of grammar and punctuation, including but not limited to:
? Recognize the misuse of words (lay vs. lie, their/they’re/there, etc).
? Recognize split infinitives and how to correct/prevent them.
? Recognize dangling participles and how to correct/prevent them.
? Understand the proper use of commas, semi-colons, colons, and exclamation marks, etc.
? Understanding of what makes a good story a great one, including but not limited to:
? Point-of-view – first, third person, third person limited, omniscient, etc.
Recognize “head hopping” and knowledgeable in making necessary corrections.
? Dialogue tags and the misuse of tags such as “laughed,” “groaned,” “sighed,” “gushed,” etc.
? Finding and helping correct plot holes, inconsistencies, inaccuracies, etc.
? Excellent and accomplished fact checker.
? Familiar with both Chicago Manual of Style and the AP Style Book.
? Proficient in Word and Track Changes/Comments, as well as Excel and Outlook.
? Efficient in time management, goal setting, and meeting/exceeding deadlines.
? Diplomatic; team worker; multi-tasker when necessary, although I prefer to concentrate on one thing at a time and do it well.
