Voluntary Work

During my time at University, I was a Student Representative for the Illustration Course; taking a roll in organising student events and attending meetings with tutors to discuss the running of the course and student concerns. I have also taken part voluntarily in the ‘Draw Me A Story Exhibition’ for Plymouth City Museum in 2011 during which I gained valuable experience in hanging artwork and an insight into how a professional gallery is run.

In summer 2012 I was part of the team that organised the University’s participation at D&AD (Designers and Art Directors) exhibition at Spitalfields Market in London. My role included ensuring students artwork arrived in London safely, displaying and hanging artwork effectively, and promoting the course and students talents.

Personal Statement

I am well organised and used to working on my own initiative, and from my University and restaurant and commissions have the proven ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines. All my work experiences have involved working as a member of a friendly team, using good communication skills and quick thinking to provide good customer satisfaction. I enjoy working with and meeting members of the public, and have used my interpersonal skills to promote my work and that of others to potential clients in London and elsewhere.

Outside work I enjoy visiting period properties and estates as well as socialising with my family and friends – these are also my inspiration for much of my artwork.
