ARTIST STATEMENT: I am a fine arts artist who isn't afraid to try any task that does NOT involve a computer. I have been studying art for almost my entire life now, and am self-taught, as well as classically- taught. I believe art is meaningful, and I love to create pieces that relate to or symbolize a story or abstract idea. I have roots in impressionist, realist, and surrealist movements- surrealism being my focused style as of late.
AWARDS and QUALIFICATIONS: I have won second place in the state of Colorado for Sculpture (photo of piece included in portfolio) through the Scholastic Award. I have won a place as a student in several shows and galleries, including the Young Artist Show in Colorado Springs, the Congressional Show in Colorado Springs, and the Wunderkind Show in Manitou Springs Wunderkind Gallery. I am also currently signed with the Mountain Living Art Studio in Manitou Springs, where I have displayed some of my handmade books. I have furthermore made a 10'x20' mural in the Woodland Park High School (photo of piece included in portfolio), and been featured in the Colorado Springs Gazette for my sculptural Scholastics piece. In addition, I designed posters for WPHS "Drive Smart" Awareness Program, and contributed to local installations.
STUDIES: I am currently a student of Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, studying fine art with an emphasis on children's book illustration, and have already completed the illustrations for a book, which is in the process of being submitted to be published.
