Don has worked in both public and private practice since 2000, covering a range of project experience in England, Ireland and Australia. Schemes have included private estate gardens, parks, education, residential, health and commercial developments.
Don’s particular strength is in innovative, creative design with strong graphics presentation skills which have been utilised for public consultation, presentations and practice promotion. These skills extend to production information, detailing, specifying, planning and tender processes through to project management and site completion. The range of experience demonstrates an adaptable approach to varied project types and successful outcomes to create quality places and spaces.
Don graduated from the University of Central England in Birmingham with school prizes in his undergraduate and postgraduate work. Professional project work since has had success in the Landscape Institute Awards 2007, Local Government Street Design Awards 2008, Bristol City Council Innovator of the Year 2008 Award and the BALI Awards in 2010. Don gained Chartership status as a member of the Landscape Institute in 2010. He also has a Certificate for Understanding Placemaking 2011 (Homes and Communities Agency) of which sustainable communities and development is an interest.
As well as excellent hand drawn skills in concept and illustration, Don also has strengths in knowledge of a range of computer applications such as Photoshop, Sketchup, Indesign and AutoCAD.
