About Me:
Rustam Mark Gutierrez is currently being recognized for his contemporary figurative paintings. Aside from the occasional straight up portrait, his work can also be described as realism with attributes of abstraction and surrealistic sensibilities. His figurative work can be characterized as bold and very direct depictions of his subjects. Each painting he creates is different but all with the same purpose. He wants to open the door at the end of the hall that leads to the room of our deep psyche. He wants to discover why an individual is the way he or she is…why we may have certain dreams or nightmares, moments of happiness and sadness, laughter and anger, what lies behind our eyes – the windows to our soul.
