He would draw and create characters from television and comic books. Rodney continued in the arts from his youth into adulthood. He attended North Carolina Central University where he majored in Studio Art with a concentration in painting. As an undergraduate student, Rodney was exposed to a full range of art history and art-related courses - this reinforced his knowledge and interest in becoming a well-rounded artist.
