We are a start-up stationery business looking for an illustrator who can work with us to "bring to life" characters for our brand. We would like an artist who specializes in children’s book illustrations or similar. The drawing style we require needs to be “adorable” or “super cute” in nature.
An example of the illustration style we are looking for can be found at: www.fizzlefamily.com You will see that the illustrations have very "rounded" lines creating a very "cute" aspect of the character. We are not looking to recreate these exact illustrations, but this is the style of artwork we are after.
We will ask selected illustrators to submit their version of a couple of characters “on spec” to see if they can create the brand of character we are looking for. Our tastes are very particular, and we are unable to get a feel for whether an artist can give us what we want until we see their artistic interpretation of the character. Just pencil illustrations are fine at this point.
Once we find the artist who can draw our main brand character, we anticipate a lot of work for the illustrator in the future, including the creation of many other characters.
Please respond if you are willing to create and submit a couple of illustrations "on spec." We can then advise you what characters to draw.
Specs are due by Monday August 13 by 8pm PST (Pacific Standard Time).
