Kristina is a multi-talented painter, musician, photographer, and filmographer. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Integrated Media. Drawing her inspiration from the world around her, as well as from her wide-ranging experiences and eclectic artistic interests, Kristina’s paintings capture a mood of disquiet, mystery, and intrigue. There is often an unsettling juxtaposition of people and objects, in an ambiguous environment of anxious tranquility—as though time were somehow suspended. Kristina produces provocative pieces that arise from a single question: “What does it mean to be alive?” Kristina wrestles with life and its meaning—that’s why the themes of risk, threats, living the moment—and possible death—reverberate in her paintings. The simplicities and mysterious complexities of man and his world are recurring themes. Her eye for composition, her vision of light, and her mastery over shape and design enables her to create thought-provoking paintings of ordinary or common objects. Eerie lighting—darkness and light—and dramatic, layered composition, and hints of a seething chaos, frequently appear in her works. Her art has evolved from traditional to contemporary, but always reflects her unique personal style. She is comfortable working with a variety of media. Kristina’s work has been in many galleries and can be found in myriad of private art collections in Canada and abroad.
