I am bilingual (French/English) and enjoy working under tight deadlines and using my creativity in a variety of mediums. I enjoy working on concert posters, which I have been doing for quite some time. I have had experience in the roles of teacher, document editor, adviser, audio/video recorder and audio/video editor. On the side I enjoy composing for theatre productions, the occasional independent short film and performing live music. My name is Adam Markowitz, and I have been in the freelance sports writing world since 2006. I started as a college writer for ArenaFan.com, a website dedicated to the Arena Football League, and I have been on staff there since '06. I'm responsible for not just article writing, but podcasting as well, another quality that you might be looking to add to your blog or website in due time. From there, I panned out to the sports gambling world, and I've written for some of the best and brightest in this industry since 2007, and my portfolio only continues to grow over time. http://www.bankrollsports.com/blog/ (anything under the name "Adam") http://www.bangthebook.com/news/author/adam/ http://www.bangthebook.com/news/author/andrew/ (I do own the rights to the fictious name "Andrew Ryan") http://www.donbest.com/sports-writers/adam-markowitz/ http://www.cappersinfo.com/blog/ (anything under the name "Drew Ryan") http://www.sbrforum.com/handicappers/200-adam-markowitz.aspx http://www.arenafan.com/news/?page=origcol&writer=113

MISSIONSTATEMENT: My objective is to bring you a whole new level of awesome, to help grow your business on a daily basis, and to help make the process as painless as possible. Success can be fun, you know? I’d like to bring you independent thinking along with my ability to follow direction. We can work and dream hard together, upholding the high standards that your brand sets within the industry. I seek professional challenges followed by the rewards of shared handshakes, and congratulations among collaborative team members on a job well done. I shine as an individual… but why settle for less when we can be rock stars together? But enough talking, lets have a little fun and make a bunch of money. Are you ready? I am. Ramen Noodles and Cold Pizza EDUCATION: University of North Texas – • Journalism-Advertising • English-Creative Writing • Marketing-New Product Development Cocktail Parties or Software? Duh! KNOWLEDGE BASE: Adobe Creative Suite – HTML/CSS – Light PHP Coding – WordPress – MS Office – FTP Software – PC & Mac User – SEO – Social Networking & Blogging – A Googling Maniac for Knowledge & Random Boot Camp & The Battlefield EMPLOYMENT HISTORY: Link Tech Worldwide, Portland, Oregon – 2011 – Current I work as a front-end developer using the WordPress platform, designing and updating customizable templates for 30,000 plus clients. Within a few months at Link Tech I was wearing multiple hats ranging from quality assurance to copywriting, being responsible for much of the content now used on our corporate website and on client’s templates. I am often put on projects involving data entry and management in our customer resource management and billing departments. - The Big Lesson: On the frontend of process and production are people. They are more than just a number in the system; they are customers, and without them there would be no business to offer. My every action is an impact upon their loyalty to the brand. I’m eager to learn more about how I can represent your brand through its next phase of success. Let me know how I can help! Bloom Marketing Group, Bloomington, Indiana – 2009 – 2010 At a time when healthcare reform posed great challenge upon our political leaders, I was slinging medical insurance plans to senior citizens. Such work requires immense attention to detail; specifically insurance and consumer laws. It’s rewarding to know that I was helping people maintain or increase their quality of life. - The Big Lesson: The biggest challenge was learning what questions to ask. When you are asking the right questions, you come up with the right solutions. Time must be spent analyzing the perspectives of others in order to best meet their needs. I spoke with an incredibly diverse collection of individuals on a daily basis, and was able to connect no matter the demographic. The Pursuant Group, Plano, Texas – 2008 I worked as a web developer and copywriter. Some days I geeked out with weird little symbols and numbers that resulted in pretty web pages, while on other days I was writing scripts, headlines (subject lines), and body email copy. Considering that our clients were non-profit organizations like universities, fraternities, sororities, churches, and others, one of the greatest challenges involved trying to convince college students to donate their beer money to a “better cause.” Now that requires some strategy. -The Big Lesson: The motto at the Pursuant Group was, “Help those who do good, do better.” Regardless of context, if I set out to help those who do good, do better, I can return home feeling that my job is complete and come back the next day with an eagerness to do it all over again. I approach every endeavor with such attitude of regard and support toward others. Denton County Web Designer, Denton, Texas – 2005 – 2006 While attending school fulltime, I worked for Denton County Information services updating and maintaining approximately 80 public service intranet-sites and about the same number of sites for public officials. - The Big Lesson: The insight gained from this position, as it was my first high-paying job as a young adult, was that good pay can solve many problems but it won’t necessarily make me happy. I found happiness through the creative process and problem-solving involved with the position. Kiwifruit Pack Houses Kiwifruit Packer, Tauranga, NZ – 2002 -2003 While traveling in New Zealand, I learned that despite the fact we in the States refer to a kiwifruit as a “kiwi,” those native to the country know a kiwi is actually a bird (the national bird of New Zealand). There were countless laughs at my expense when mentioning that I loved to eat kiwis rather than kiwifruit. The natives of New Zealand aren’t too keen on people who want to eat their national bird. Imagine that. - The Big Lesson: During my great adventure of working in Kiwifruit pack houses, I learned the importance of research. It might be a good idea to know a little bit about a country before traveling to it. This also proved to be true in the world of marketing, branding, and advertising. Stream International (Hewlett Packard Tech Support), Dallas, Texas – 2000 – 2002 Providing computer technical support via the telephone can be complex, but it was most often a matter of damage control. People want to feel heard, and most of all they want results… quickly. Many computer technical issues are a result of user error; however you don’t say that to a customer. A less insulting and more objective approach came through the use of empathy and encouragement. I ended most calls on a positive note, and screaming often turned into a soft and warm “thank you” through effective communication. - The Big Lesson: I learned how to educate people without having them know they were being educated. Most of all, I learned how to listen and to respond to the customer’s immediate needs and concerns. Craft of Wood Fantasia, Cabinet Craftsman, Mesquite, Texas – 1997- 2000 When building custom cabinets it’s important to always measure twice and cut once. There’s great satisfaction that comes with crafting an amazing product. The Big Lesson: Aside from walking away with all of my fingers, I also took with me the understanding that anything I create has a piece of me in it. Every challenge provides an opportunity to make an impact on the world around me, whether it is a physical creation or another human being. - The Big Lesson: I was never told in training to go to a store and purchase an item for a customer if we didn’t carry it; I was told to do whatever I had to do to give my guest a wonderful experience. I used my best judgment, and found success.cess.
