Anjelica Bascom is a product of her living in the diverse city of Detroit, Michigan and her multi- split heritage of African American, Caucasian, Native American and Trinidad. Anjelica was from a young age addicted to different ethnic cultures and different media which all seem to revolve around Japanese anime. Anjelica started to draw ethnic women characters that mimic Japanese anime style. In 2000 Anjelica attended College for Creative Studies (CCS) to hone her skills in both animation and illustration. From there she came to Miami and inspired by the sea-life and vibrant colors started to create her “Bubble Girls”. In 2011 Anjelica graduated from Ai Mimai International University of Art & Design with her masters in visual arts. Anjelica unique style merges what teens see on a daily basis, which is different media, like cartoons, magazine and popular culture. Combined with the huge merging of different cultures like Japan. Which Anjelica uses and combines to make artwork that speaks to her generation of contemporary young teens especially ethnic women.

I recently qualified for my Masters in Animation and Digital Arts and although animation is my primary goal, I have acquired other skills over my 5 year period of study in areas such as production design (set building and costume design), special effects, editing, directing and scriptwriting, which I am willing to apply to any job that may be offered. Since then I have done an Internship at Bugbox animations in which I was required to animated a cartoon series called "The Adventures of Toby", worked at 3 Foot 7 painting props for "The Hobbit", and now I am currently working at Weta Digital as a runner. It has been my dream from a young age, to be an animator, and have since then focused on specialising in this field. I have had a passion to create film and ultimately would like to work as a character animator in feature films . I have completed a Bachelor of Arts degree through AFDA (The South African School of Motion Picture and Live Performance), a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree through the University of the Witwatersrand, and a Bachelor of Arts Masters degree in Digital Art and animation. My key skills include Softimage, Maya, Mudbox, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier, ToonBoom, Composite, and Mirage. I am strong in character animation and performance. I am a hard worker who thrives on team work and communication and am enthusiastic and committed to giving my best. I am prepared to be trained in any area and to tackle any film project. Specialties: Character Animation Modelling _____________________________________________________________________________ Experience: Painter (Props) 3 Foot 7 June 2011 – October 2011 (5 months) Wellington, New Zealand Description: Painting props in the Art department for The Hobbit. _________________________________________ Animation Intern Bugbox Animation Studios November 2010 – May 2011 (7 months) The first few months of the internship entailed training in animation character performance in Maya. Training included daily life drawing, weekly lectures, and animation exercises which were criticized at the end of each week. I was trained under Tim Argall, who in turn was trained under Richard Williams, Bret Parker from Pixar, and Anthony Wong from Pixar/Disney Animation Studios. Once training had been completed, I was required to help on the development The Adventures of Toby series. I was placed on the background design and development for the animated environments. I was then scheduled 50 seconds of cartoon animation each week on several characters. Once the episode had been completed, I worked on a music video for a children's Christian CD named "My Dad", in which I was placed into background design and creation, storyboarding and animatic editing, and animation. _____________________________________________________________________________ Education: University of the Witwatersrand Bachelor of Arts Masters Degree, Digital Arts 2010 – 2011 Courses Completed Digital Arts (Animation) Animation Theory/History 2D Animation Life Drawing Research Thesis "Realism in CGI Character Performance: A Comparitive Study of the Evolution of Key-Framed Animation and Motion Capture Systems at Weta Digital Studios" ____________________________________________ University of the Witwatersrand Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree, Digital Arts 2009 Courses Completed Digital Arts (Animation) Digital Theory Hollywood Youth and Cinema (Seminar Course) Game Design Research Thesis: Motion Capture ____________________________________________ The African School for Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (AFDA) Bachelor of Arts Degree, Traditional Animation, Production Design, Directing, Scriptwriting, Special Effects Motion Picture Medium and Motion Picture and Live Performance (AFDA) Animation 2006 - 2008 Courses Completed Animation Production Design Directing Special Effects Script Writing
