Creating children's illustrations is a true passion of mine. I enjoy the innocence and the imagination of it all. I specialize in the use of color and detail. I often play with space as it relates to my frame of reference. I also enjoy creating portraits that allow me to explore the personality of a person and how I can translate it onto paper. I received my Bachelor's of Fine arts from...

I have worked in travel in three continents with major organizations and have traveled widely. My focus has been innovative product and program development. My M.A. degree in English, has been a priceless asset, as a primary responsibility was the independent planning, composing and execution of editorial and content, for promotional material, sales collateral, destination brochures, training and operational manuals, contracts, conducting of seasonal promo launches, through public forums, radio, workshops, and training of sales personnel in destination knowledge and operations. Travel writing comes naturally for me. Travel writing is about seeing the world anew every day. It demands you pay minute attention to where you are, what you see, how it affects you and travelers in general. This includes the smells, the sounds, the tastes, the cultural differences, the food, the music, the culture, the costumes, the history, geography, the politics, the economics, and the issues of the day in each destination. It's this meeting people and uncovering of the universal truths and fundamental differences about destinations the world over that gives life its greatest texture and interest. This is why travel has always been and always will be the largest and fastest growing industry, with an immortal relevance, especially as the world shrinks and global travel continues to not only be a desire but also a necessity. “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking for your passion." Steve Jobs, Apple. This is what I am doing in my decision to launch a travel writing career, following my passion and living it. I have lived in different countries, have 20+ years of travel industry experience as well as empirical travel all over the globe with an intimate knowledge of the destinations I have visited. This has been with a professional rather than a personal perspective, and hence my writing has a universal relevance. My primary function was contracting holiday products, services and destination management companies world-wide. These were the basis for writing content for brochures, sales and promotional materials, operational and training manuals and product launches. I am genuinely bitten by the travel bug and know what people look for and how to maximize the travel experience for them. My World Geography and General Knowledge is excellent. My Master's Degree in English is an invaluable tool that ties my professional experience and knowledge and presents it in a cohesive, user-friendly and gripping manner. I would write feature destination articles, getting-there, travel formalities, city guides, accommodations, highlights of the sight-seeing tours, optional extensions, local experiences, entertainment, dining, sporting, shopping, outdoor activities, unique attractions, help resources, weather, surrounding areas, kid-friendly options, car hire etc.

My name is Diana Barlow and I am a supervisor in a factory. I was once told that the key to happiness was to find something you love to do and find a way to get paid for it. Art in all forms is that key to my happiness. I love my job and the challenges it provides but believe I am destined for more. I have spent the last 10 years of my life designing and drawing things for people who know I can do it. I now want the world to know. I believe my work speaks for itself as a picture is worth a thousand words. I also write & have kept a daily journal for years. In these journals are not only daily events and feelings but short stories, quotes and poetry as well. My first poem was published when I was only 12. Please bare with me as I continue to update my portfolio, most of my best work has been given as gifts. I am looking to challenge my talents and welcome any inquiries! I will not undertake something I am not able to do but give me a chance and you might be surprised!

I am an independent grant writer and blogger with experience in a variety of non-profit work. My approach to creating success for organizations is based on innovative thinking, relationships, and building collaborations. My role with the organizations I work with varies to include grant writing; setting up and writing website content; managing social media sites like Facebook and Twitter; and program consultation. Most recently, I have written articles about a variety of topics that have been published. The focus of my work is children and families, senior citizens, schools, non-profits, and under-served communities in rural areas. Before becoming a freelance writer, I was employed as an Executive Director for a non-profit that provided services to families who have children with emotional and behavioral challenges, including medical problems. For the past 15 years I have written grants as well as participated on several grant review teams. I have significant experience developing programs, developing budgets to support the programs, recruiting, hiring, training, and mentoring staff and volunteers, as well as assuring the programs hit evaluation and service goals while meeting grant requirements within the allocated budget. I understand the challenges of trying to manage the daily operations of a non-profit while finding the money to support the desired goals. I am interested in supporting non-profit leaders in their search for relevant funding opportunities, applying for grants, and providing assistance in other ways that would support the goals of the organization. My background in mental health and non-profit management brings an added level of understanding to health and wellness programming. In addition to writing grant proposals, I have written business proposals, training proposals, fundraising and training plans.
