I hope that my viewers can experience emotions when they view my work. The metaphysical realm offers the preliminary idea through which my brainstorming process begins. A simple idea can start my creative thinking but even before that something in my brain triggers a memory or a concept. My ideas come from many things and one thought can give birth to many sub-thoughts. These ideas form into mental images which can and will be a start for a painting or a drawing. Some believe that for art to be legitimate it requires honesty. My truth is portrayed as an idea of an image. As I begin the mental process many of the elements of art are considered and put into motion. I ask the viewer to rejoice with me in my story with all its complexities of life. TEACHING PHILOSOPHY I believe in the power of an enthusiastic teacher. One learns in order to teach and then teaches to learn. My method of teaching begins with building the creative confidence level of my students first and foremost. My ultimate goal is to create a learning environment that is interesting and stimulating. If the process is successful, each student will be able to explore their own distinctive creativeness. They will become comfortable with the process of creative thinking thus using this thinking in all endeavors in life. When the confidence level returns then I assist them in acquiring the artistic skills that are necessary to become an image maker. I believe in the emphasis on art as an essential element for learning. I think that an education in the arts stimulates and develops self-esteem and encourages openness towards the criticism and opinions of others. A student that is aware of the full range of possibilities in art and has fun exploring it, will learn and grow in intellectually powerful ways. I strive to teach students to be engaged in the exploration of drawing what they observe, introducing them to solutions and options in the fundamental skills of drawing and painting. I hope to empower my students with the discipline necessary for a clear understanding in the practice of the arts. Through specific assignments and projects I hope to sharpen creative skills and encourage practice and patience. It is important to me that my students approach the activities of my courses with a focused and open mind. Each assignment is geared for the next assignment so improvement is a certainty. I foster critical thinking and encourage my students to use their own personal story and experience to draw from and develop a theme in their work. The artwork that I make is about my own life experience and personal story. I encourage and urge my students to consider new ways of making art and to explore the many possibilities of expressing themselves. I guide them to take what they think they know about a subject, person or theme, turn it around, manipulate, change perspective and embrace the end product that comes out of it. I compliment my teaching with examples of my most recent work and research. I expose students to art museums and other relevant collections in the surrounding community. I strive to encourage students to produce complex works of art and to give them exposure to the practical and technical problems that artists are faced with. Teaching and learning art should be fun and I strive to provide a relaxed but challenging atmosphere that is conducive for creative learning. I urge students to step out of their safe boundaries and experiment with the possibilities that art can offer. I in return, am fulfilled and excited with the opportunity of teaching my passion and livelihood. Teaching fundamental drawing and painting gives me great personal satisfaction. The rewards of teaching are vast and the experience and genuine interaction that I have with my students is priceless.

If there’s such a thing as a traditional road for a screenwriter to follow, the nonconforming Samuel Calvin Morrison, Jr. didn’t like the scenery and decided to embark on a journey that was more suitable to his liking. As trivial as it may seem, the simple notion of only being labeled as a screenwriter irritates him from time to time, in fact, no matter how flattering an adjective might be in regards to describing him, recognition for a solitary accomplishment limits what he has done as well as what he is about to do. Born in Monrovia, Liberia in what was a very volatile nation at the time, Sam was relocated to New Jersey when he was three years old. With religious parents as a foundation, he flourished in his academic studies and didn’t disappoint, becoming the first member in his family to go to college and earning a partial scholarship to Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. But his attempt for higher education would be derailed when his mother passed and it was evident that the financial and emotional burden was just to great to bear for his father, who also had to care for Sam’s two younger brothers. Dropping out after one and a half years of college, Sam split his time working a monotonous 9 to 5 desk job and interning in Def Jam Records’ promotional department that quickly led to a position with TVT Records. Although he showed great promise within the music industry, he wasn’t quite fulfilled and a future in it seemed dim; Sam wanted to grow and was looking to be challenged creatively. And even though he was always praised for his writings and story-telling throughout all his years of education, it wasn’t until 2009 that Sam decided to pursue a career as a writer. In addition to a freelance marketing gig, he truly began his writing career as an associate editor for an upstart lifestyle magazine as well as writing for The Source Magazine. Sam finally found the challenge he was seeking at The Source and it was there he established himself as a talented writer with a versatile and exceptional voice. Not only did he get the opportunity to display his abilities, he also created a great rapport with the celebrities he interviewed. And while things at The Source couldn’t be better, although hesitant, Sam knew it was the right time to make the transition to film and TV, and that was evident when he got the opportunity and was hired to ghost write a couple screenplays. Realizing he had not only the writing talent but also the capability to create efficient marketing and promotional campaigns, Sam formed Deck of Cards Entertainment Media Group. With a newly formed company under his leadership, Sam wrote a treatment for Fresh Education, a music-based comedy/drama and began shopping it. Fresh Education was well received but in the end, Sam decided against signing a contract that would bring his television show to an established network, saying “It can’t just be about the money, if it’s something that I write and my name is on it, I need to make sure that every aspect of it is as close to perfection as possible.” It may seem like declining such a deal would be a setback to Sam and his company, but to the contrary, he returned to ghost writing opportunities, was featured on a panel to discuss minorities in Hollywood on a popular radio station in New York City and has a couple of projects in development that are scheduled to be completed before 2013. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2756987/

I am a veteran of the United States Army and have recently graduated with a two year associates degree primarily focussed on history and humanities.During my final year I completed an internship with a local radio station where I worked primarily in sales and promotions. I work well on the phone and have strong communication skills in person as well. I have a passion for writing and research and a creative side that stands out compared to the competitors in the marketplace I worked in. My boss wanted me to go ahead and finish school so I am no longer at the radio station. When I left the owner of the company said i would be much better suited in a larger marketplace due to my hard work ethic and competetive edge .
