Career Goal:
It is my goal to write professionally at some level within the publishing industry with the aim of improving my writing skills, building experience with the publication process and increasing my network of professional contacts within the writing and publishing worlds.
Writing History:
I have been focusing on writing for 12 years and in that time I have completed several books as well a large collection of essays and articles and I also have several projects that are currently at various stages of completion. Although my first essay was published in 2000 until 2008 I spent the majority of my time in researching and compiling several books that I am now in the process of publishing. Below is a list of the main points of my work to date:
2008-09 I wrote and then published my first novel- Loot, a crime fiction novel set in Melbourne
Wrote: The Rosicrucian Roots of Modern Witchcraft Cults, published in various places on the web which has accrued more than 5,000 reads and has been quoted widely
I began writing my first blog dgmattichakjr’s blog- blogging about everything as a vehicle for communicating with my readers as well as a place to publish the results of researches and other things that I have written. This was followed by my second blog Ankhafnakhonsu’s Magick Blog that I started as a place to publish and discuss the material that I have written and collected that deals specifically with Magick and Thelema. Finally late in 2009 I started my third blog: Chefologist- the Ruminations of the Wandering Chef as an experiment in clear concise writing for a specific purpose by restricting each post to 250-350 words including a recipe and a photo and as an outlet for my interest in food, cooking and kitchens.
2009-10I wrote and published my second book: A Comment on the Verses of the Book of the Law.[Soft Break][Soft Break]I worked as administrator and main contributor to the Mount Franklin Annual Pagan Gathering web site in the lead up to their annual Beltane Gathering held in Central Victoria. This involved establishing an internet presence for the group, researching and writing about items of interest to the Pagan community, responding to all e-mail communications, coordinating input from other contributors in the group and generally administering the site. My own article A New Thread in an Old Tapestry remains the most read article published on the site with several thousand hits in the past year. I remain on the organizing committees of the Mount Franklin Annual Pagan Gathering and retain some of the administration duties for its web site to the present and still contribute to its content when possible.
2010-11Since the publication of my last book I have continued to develop my work and at present I have another non-fiction book ready to go to the publishers with another one at the final editing stage as well as another novel that I have largely completed and that is nearly ready to go to my editor as well. I have also written a book about restaurants and their kitchens that only needs a final edit to be ready for publication when I have time.
